Our premises liability team obtained a settlement in excess of $840,000 for our client, who suddenly slipped and fell on a rain slickened carpet on an exit ramp, landing on his left side.
Co-efficient of friction testing was performed by plaintiff’s accident reconstruction expert, who concluded that the combination of the shoe, the wet carpet, and the slope of the ramp resulted in an extremely hazardous condition. Our team determined that the ramp leading out of the hotel was out of code but was also not uniform in slope.
Our client suffered a fractured hip from the fall. During a later hip surgery to repair the damage from the fall, he suffered a stroke, which left him partially blind. After filing suit against the architect, contractor, and subcontractors responsible for the construction of the ramp and others, we recovered in excess of $840,000 for our client.
