DEFENSE VERDICT

Our firm represented a trucking company whose driver had stopped at an intersection. A bicyclist stopped on the right side of the cab of the semi. Not seeing the bicyclist, the truck driver proceeded to make a right hand turn. Three of the rear wheels of the trailer ran over the bicyclist causing a traumatic amputation of his ear and an explosion fracture of his tibia requiring two bone grafts onto the tibia, an arthroscopic surgery and eventually a total knee replacement. An eye witness testified that the driver ran the red light. Our client offered $260,000 in settlement. The bicyclist refused to accept it. We tried the case to a Marin County jury and obtained a defense verdict.
